1. In the district
of Gorkha we have 14 handicapped children we help support yearly with uniforms,
clothing and toys. We also made them beds, provided mattresses, a first
for many of them to sleep on, and
built shelves for their books and brought equipment for the teachers and
students.
2. This was my second year working with the Taiwan Dental Association! They are professionals in their fields and go once a year to Nepal to offer free dental and medical checkups. In 2012, 463 people received scaling or deep cleaning, 5 people received root canals . and 878 teeth were filled, 173 teeth extracted. The head doctor has become a personal friend and we will be making regular yearly trips to do more work in the future.
3. In the district of Makwanpur we have now have a total of 28 children who receive uniforms and books each year. For the past 3 years during Christmas time we provided blankets for the children and impoverished families in the villages of Makwanpur.
4.In an outlying village of Kathmandu we have an appeal project for building a playground for St. Joseph's school where children of poor farmers attend. The village is inhabited mostly by people who are either dependent on agriculture or as agricultural labours The annual income of the people is low and most of them are below the poverty line. The school has an attendance of 227 of children.
