1. In the district of Gorkha we have 14 handicapped children whom we help support yearly with school uniforms, tuition , clothing and toys. Over the past few years we also made them beds, provided mattresses and built shelves for their books as well as supplied them Braille Bibles and Braille typewriters. This year they got their teeth and eyes checked for the first time by medical doctors from Taiwan in which some have the possibility to see by having an operation.
2 In the district of Makwanpur, (an area known for child trafficking) we have an additional 23 children who we sponsor with yearly school tuition along with school uniforms and books for each year. We would like to help a lot more children off the streets and and give them hope for a better future by getting them educated and into schools, but so far funds are limited to these 23 children.
3 In Kathmandu from March to May we built a fence in the front and back of the St. Joseph’s school thus adding security as well as making it a general safe area for the children to play. We also were able to build a ping pong table, bathroom and classroom doors, donate 10 computers, and books and a set of Britannica encyclopedias along with a cabinet for the school. In 2014 we will be upgrading the school desks and tables as well as plastering and cementing the school to make it look better and safer conditions for the children.
4. We brought 110 kilos (266 lbs.) of donated items, such as Christian books, a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica, clothing, sports equipment, and school materials, and computers were brought to Nepal in March with no overweight charges (donated free by the airline I flew on) and again . In August another 34 kilos consisting of computer equipment and Bibles for the Blind . For a total of 146 kilos of donated goods.
5. I helped to co ordinate and set up the program for for 32 doctors and dentists from Taiwan who helped over 300 children with oral health and care. Also we has 3 missionary trainees from Taiwan come for one week to participate in missions related activities.
6. In October we made a trip to South Africa to learn more about missions work and stayed in a mission base for 6 weeks. Here we participated in Bible programs, seminars, went to hospitals and prayed for the sick, and helped in various ministries and mission related works. We learned about the power of God's word to heal and thus we have had over 23 healings to date. Tickets were provided and paid for via donations and sponsors and Sheryl and Laura's father who works for Emirates Airlines on which we flew.
7. This year we did a Christmas Blanket drive in December in which we were able to provide well over 150 blankets to needy children there in the cold winter months! (pics coming soon!) This was more than double of the amount we were able to supply in 2012. Plus send much needed funds to St. Joseph's so they could continue to run their school, pay rent teachers, etc.
